CRYPTOFAUNA is a reflection on life in motion.

Inspired by creatures, symbols, and patterns that have appeared throughout human history, the collection explores the cycles that connect all living things. Birth and death. Creation and transformation. The tides that pull us forward and the unseen currents that shape our lives.

Scorpions, beetles, fish, crabs, and other ancient forms appear throughout the collection, not simply as creatures, but as reminders of a wisdom that has always existed within the natural world. Across cultures and throughout time, humanity has looked to these beings for meaning, guidance, protection, and understanding.

Many of the pieces draw from the symbolism of water, spirals, lunar cycles, and movement itself. Nothing in nature stands still for long. The moon moves the tides. Rivers carve stone. Creatures molt, migrate, transform, and begin again.

Each piece serves as a small relic of that process. A living thing immortalized in metal. A reminder that life is not linear, but cyclical. Always moving. Always becoming.

Mexican Fire Opal and Obsidian

There are some things that survive the fire.

Not because they were untouched by it, but because they learned how to carry it.

Long before obsidian became jewelry, it was shaped into mirrors. Dark volcanic glass polished until it reflected not only the face staring back, but everything beneath it. Across ancient cultures, it became associated with vision, truth, and the unseen forces that shape our lives.

At the center of AWEN REMAINS rests a black obsidian pyramid held between twin scorpions. For thousands of years, the scorpion has appeared as both guardian and initiator. A creature capable of surviving some of the harshest landscapes on earth, reminding us that transformation is rarely comfortable, yet somehow life continues to move forward.

Above it burns a Mexican Fire Opal, another child of volcanic creation. Where obsidian holds the darkness left behind by the fire, Fire Opal carries the ember that remains.

Together they speak to something deeply human. The wisdom that follows hardship. The self that emerges after loss. The parts of us that refuse to disappear simply because life demanded a different shape.

Some things are not meant to return to what they once were.

Some things are meant to become.

PROCESS

CRYPTOFAUNA began as a collection of individual forms gathered over time. Ancient feeling brass creatures, symbols, and fragments that seemed to carry stories of their own.

Rather than being designed from a single mold or manufactured as a matching set, each piece emerged through a process of curation and assembly. Components were carefully selected and brought together based on symbolism, movement, balance, and the dialogue they created with one another.

Each finished piece becomes its own small ecosystem of meaning, where creatures, stones, and symbols meet to tell a story larger than any single element alone.
